Planning your wedding is such an exciting time. It can feel overwhelming and wonderful, stressful and surreal, all at once! You have plenty of decisions to make, and many of them involve choosing the right vendors for your event. But sometimes figuring that out can be tricky. If you decide to work with our studio, we’ll want to learn plenty about you! However, you may be a bit curious about us. We thought we’d take this opportunity to introduce ourselves a bit more than we do on our website…
By now you may know that we’re Sara and Miles O’Brien, founders of Sara Fitz. We have been married for almost ten years (goodness, where does the time go?!) and are first and foremost, best friends. We met, got engaged and were married on Nantucket Island, a place that’s near and dear to our families. We have two little boys, Everett and Oliver, and two rescue pups, Griffin and Sadie. Our family lives on the coast of southern Maine, where we can visit the ocean during our lunch break. We are more than grateful for the opportunity to do what we love, while spending time with our children and one another.
… Maybe a little Q + A would be fun?!
Favorite thing about what you do?
S: I love happy clients! Creating their dream papers… watching it all come together, it doesn’t get better!
M: I’m a people-person. Meeting new folks on a daily basis and chatting about things that excite them is pretty awesome.
What’s the best thing about working with your spouse?
S: Honestly, spending so much time together. We really do enjoy being around each other. We’re a good balance for one another. I can be a bit of a worrier and a definite workaholic. He’s more laid-back– helps me see the bigger picture!
M: I get to work with my best friend. Chipping away at our life’s goal together. It’s definitely fulfilling.
In another life you’d be?
S: A novelist.
M: Professional hockey player
If you were told you could only eat one thing forever, what would it be?
M: Chinese food
Favorite shows on t.v.?
S: Without question– Bloodline is my favorite. I do indulge in a few reality shows, Bachelorette, Housewives… a little Southern Charm. Oh– it’s not on anymore, but I loved Parenthood.
M: Game of Thrones, for sure. Bloodline is great. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t know a thing or two about the above-mentioned reality shows, lol.
It’s the weekend and you have no plans! What do you do?
S: Gather up the boys, hop in the car and head north! Explore Maine’s coastal villages along the way… hit up some of the amazing antique shops, grab a yummy lunch by the water. We’d have to seek out a good playground, of course, and nothing ends the day like an ice cream cone– that’s a given!
M: Backyard fun with the kids… go to the beach… I would play hockey every day if I could…
What was the best moment of your wedding?
S: Aside from actually marrying my love, sitting back realizing that people I’ve known from all stages of my life were in the same room at once, celebrating. There’s nothing like it.
M: Watching Sara come down the aisle… dancing to our band–they were incredible!
Which three words best describe your spouse?
S: Kind, thoughtful… interesting.
M: Beautiful, talented, challenging (in a good way!)
Now that you know a little more about us, we hope to learn about you and your vision for your big day!
